Ultrasound Training for EBME Engineers

Introduction to Ultrasound Service Using MULTI-Mode™

Ultrasound Training for EBME Engineers

Modality has launched new ultrasound training for EBME engineers designed to help NHS Trusts develop the capability to support and maintain ultrasound systems within their own departments.

The Introduction to Ultrasound Service Using MULTI-Mode™ course is a two-day training programme delivered in Loughborough. It provides EBME and Clinical Engineering teams with the knowledge required to confidently maintain and service ultrasound equipment.

The course is designed specifically for NHS EBME and Clinical Engineering teams looking to develop the skills needed to support ultrasound systems internally.

Many Trusts rely on external service providers to maintain their ultrasound estate. Developing in-house expertise allows EBME teams to reduce service contract costs while improving equipment uptime and availability across clinical departments.

A practical ultrasound servicing course for EBME teams

The course introduces the key technical principles behind ultrasound systems and the tools used to support them. Designed for engineers working with medical imaging equipment, the training focuses on the practical skills needed to maintain ultrasound systems and carry out preventative maintenance activities.

Day 1 – Foundations of Ultrasound System Support

The first day introduces the fundamentals of ultrasound systems and the tools used to support them:

  • Introduction to Ultrasound
  • Ultrasound Probe Care
  • Introduction to MULTI-Mode Software
  • Introduction to the Modality Response Desk
  • MM1010 Test Phantom and Test Tool Hardware

Day 2 – Ultrasound Maintenance and PPM Training

The second day focuses on the technical aspects of ultrasound system maintenance:

  • Ultrasound System Architecture
  • Electrical Safety Testing
  • Ultrasound PPM Training
  • Access to the MULTI-Mode Platform
  • Ongoing Technical Support

This structured programme provides EBME engineers with the knowledge needed to support ultrasound systems more effectively within their own departments.

Supporting NHS Trusts beyond the training

The course is designed as the starting point for ongoing collaboration between Modality and NHS EBME teams.

Following the training, participants gain access to the MULTI-Mode platform, along with ongoing technical support from the Modality team. This allows departments to continue developing their ultrasound servicing capability as they take on more maintenance activity internally.

This ultrasound servicing training helps EBME engineers develop the knowledge required to maintain ultrasound systems and support preventative maintenance activities within their own departments.

Who should attend

This course is designed for:

  • EBME engineers working within NHS Trusts
  • Clinical Engineering teams responsible for ultrasound systems
  • Engineers looking to develop ultrasound servicing and PPM skills
  • Departments aiming to bring more ultrasound support in-house
